Understanding your Ayurvedic dosha can provide valuable insights into your physical, mental, and emotional tendencies. To help you determine whether you are predominantly Vata, Pitta, or Kapha, we’ve created a simple questionnaire. Answer the following questions based on your natural tendencies, and tally up your responses to find out which dosha best describes you!


What Your Dosha Means
  • Vata (Air & Ether): Vata types are energetic, creative, and quick-thinking but can be prone to anxiety, restlessness, and irregularity in their lives when imbalanced.
  • Pitta (Fire & Water): Pitta types are ambitious, driven, and sharp-minded, but they can become overheated, irritable, and prone to inflammation or anger when out of balance.
  • Kapha (Earth & Water): Kapha types are calm, steady, and nurturing but may experience sluggishness, weight gain, and depression when imbalanced.

Body Type

a) Thin, light frame; may have difficulty gaining weight.
b) Medium build; athletic, well-toned muscles.
c) Heavier build; tend to gain weight easily and may have difficulty losing it.


Skin

a) Dry, rough, or easily dehydrated.
b) Warm, may be prone to redness, acne, or sensitivity.
c) Soft, smooth, and often oily.


Hair

a) Dry, thin, prone to frizz or brittleness.
b) Straight or wavy, may gray or thin early.
c) Thick, oily, and lustrous.


Appetite

a) Irregular appetite, sometimes forget to eat.
b) Strong appetite, often feel hungry.
c) Slow but steady appetite, enjoy food but don’t overeat.


Digestion

a) Irregular digestion, prone to bloating, gas, or constipation.
b) Strong digestion, but may experience acidity or heartburn.
c) Slow digestion, often feel heavy or lethargic after eating.


Energy Levels

a) Burst of high energy followed by exhaustion; energy fluctuates.
b) High energy and endurance, tend to push hard but can burn out.
c) Steady, slow energy, not easily fatigued but can feel sluggish.


Sleep Pattern

a) Light sleeper, prone to waking up often or struggling with insomnia.
b) Sleep well, but may wake up if stressed or overheated.
c) Deep, long sleep; difficult to wake up in the morning.


Climate Preference

a) Prefer warmth, dislike cold and wind.
b) Prefer cool environments, dislike heat.
c) Enjoy warmth and humidity, but dislike cold, damp weather.


Emotions Under Stress

a) Feel anxious, worried, or scattered when stressed.
b) Feel frustrated, angry, or irritable under pressure.
c) Feel withdrawn, depressed, or unmotivated when overwhelmed.


Personality

a) Creative, enthusiastic, quick to start new things but may not finish.
b) Goal-oriented, ambitious, can be intense or competitive.
c) Calm, steady, easy-going, may resist change.


Mental State

a) Restless mind, thoughts jump around quickly, easily distracted.
b) Sharp, focused, decisive, may get easily frustrated.
c) Calm, slow to make decisions, may be stubborn or resistant to change.


Communication Style

a) Talk fast, share a lot of ideas, may jump from topic to topic.
b) Speak clearly and confidently, may be direct or forceful.
c) Speak slowly, thoughtfully, and with calmness.


Calculating Your Dosha:
  • Mostly a’s: You are predominantly Vata.
  • Mostly b’s: You are predominantly Pitta.
  • Mostly c’s: You are predominantly Kapha.
